Working with Deb Kim Emery, Dan created and taught Designing Learning Spaces. The course connected graduate students from education, engineering and business programs with real clients looking to optimize their learning spaces.
Dan led a collaboration with eight partners in the Omaha Science Media Project that gave middle and high school science teachers and students training, technology, and access to experts to become science journalists.
Dan worked with faculty from across Stanford University and educational leaders from around the world to design, carry out and evaluate innovative learning activities in Stanford’s Wallenberg Hall
Dan’s Stanford School of Education students worked with Danish architecture students to develop ideas for learning in public places. Our cross-disciplinary, globally-collaborative class was one of the first of its kind at Stanford.
Working with learning designer Reinhold Steinbeck, Learning Innovations led a half-day and two-hour workshops at the University of Sao Paulo on introducing design thinking to educators engaged in project and problem-based learning (PBL).
As the Ohlone Community College team prepared to open the first LEED certified community college in the US, Dan worked with administrators, faculty, and staff to design a learning lab and coached instructors to think creatively taking advantage of new learning spaces.
Dan worked with staff and teens to evaluate Discovery Youth, a museum-based multimedia education program. Youth participated in interviews, focus groups, and design sessions to assist museum staff in articulating vision for future Discovery Youth sessions.
Learning Innovations developed and led a workshop on using social media for non-profit leaders in the region. Instead of focusing on specific tools, this session focused on how non-profits could test strategies for connecting with their specific audiences.
